＜概要／目的＞
I presented in this event the first chapter of my doctorate research which is about the morphological analysis of Timonius spp., an understudied genus of the coffee family. The purpose of my research is to provide detailed morphological analysis of selected Philippine Timonius species from Dinagat, Islands, Philippines. Specifically, the study aims to: (1) To give detailed morphological descriptions of the collected Philippine Timonius spp., (2)To examine the leaf micromorphology of the collected samples following the methods of Chen et al. (2015), and (3) To provide updates and botanical illustrations of the selected Timonius spp. I joined the poster presentation to spread awareness about the importance of such endemic plants and also to hear other people's scientific opinion about my work. Scientific findings must be shared so it is a good opportunity to do it here. Lastly, I also wanted to widen my connections when it comes to academe and joining a joint program is the right thing to do.



＜方法／企画としての特徴＞
In this research, I started first by collecting my plant samples in the localities of Dinagat Island, Philippines. Then, I used several types of microscopes and reference journals for the analysis. Botanical illustrations and description of characters were then provided for taxonomic treatment.

During the poster presentation, I spend 30 minutes talking with both TMU and UoS students and faculty members regarding their insights about my work. Some of their suggestions were really helpful to further improve my study.

＜活動内容／具体的成果＞
This study provided the updated comprehensive morphological descriptions of the three Timonius from Mount Redondo and Mount Paragua. In addition, all of the examined Timonius species, using the stereomicroscope and SEM demonstrated dull, unbranched and non-glandular hairs. Lastly, a possible new endemic species of Philippine Timonius is here proposed and described in comparison with closely related species. For further research, we would like to recommend the use of molecular data in the identification of Timonius species.

Some people during the poster presentation recommended that I should increase the quality of my SEM photos and I am planning to do that in the future. Also, one person recommended to me to check the nutritional values of each of the species.
