<概要/目的>
On November 21, 2022, Tokyo Metropolitan University (TMU), Tokyo, Japan, hosted the TMU-UOS Bio conference. This is the exchange program between the University of Seoul (UOS), Korea and Tokyo Metropolitan University, Japan. The goal of the program was to build connections and exchange ideas between two universities.

<方法/企画としての特徴>
After a prolonged period of social restrictions, the program was finally able to be conducted in person. It was really good to see the warm atmosphere, and social interactions at the conference. The program was took place on Building 11 and Atrium of Building 8 at TMU. The organizing committee did an excellent job in organizing the program, which consisted of two sessions: a seminar and a poster session. Everything ran smoothly in the conference hall."

1. Activities
1.1. Seminar session

The seminar session was opened by representative of Tokyo Metropolitan University, who welcomed the professors and students of University of Seoul, Korea. Dr. Dong-Sung Lee, assistant professor from University of Seoul was the key speaker of the program. He spoke on topic “Simultaneous profiling of 3D genome structure and DNA methylation in single human cells”.

During his talk, Dr. Lee emphasized the usefulness of single-cell chromatin conformation capture (3C) or Hi-C profiles for identifying cell types and reconstructing cell-type specific chromatin conformation maps. He also provided an overview of the method developed for single-nucleus methyl-3C sequencing, which captures chromatin organization and DNA methylation information and robustly separates heterogeneous cell types. Additionally, he suggested that pervasive interactions exist between epigenetic processes and gene expression regulation. Overall, his presentation was both fascinating and highly informative.

1.2. Poster session
After the seminar session, the poster session took place at the conference venue. Both students from Tokyo Metropolitan University (TMU) and University of Seoul (UOS) presented posters, altogether 24 presenters; 14 (58%) were from TMU and 10 (42%) were from UOS. During the program, the presenters shared their research.

The presenters were effectively explained their findings as well as answered the curiosities of viewers during the program. Both university students were thrilled to demonstrate their research in the program.

At last, the program concluded with a group photo of the participants and the distribution of certificates.

<感想/課題など(企画力/評価力/自主性等の向上を含む)>
In nutshells, the program provided a great opportunity for the students to share their research results as well as to engage with the scientific community. It also allowed them to improve their communication skills, establish valuable professional connections, and learn from experts. As a result, the program was beneficial for both universities.
