<概要/目的>
The objective of the exchange program organized by Tokyo Metropolitan University (TMU) is to facilitate academic exchange between TMU and the University of Seoul (UOS). The program took place at TMU from November 13th to 18th, 2023, and was hosted by professors and students of TMU. This program provided UOS students with the opportunity to select the laboratory they were interested in visiting and learning from. One UOS student was selected to visit the Systematic Zoology Laboratory based on their interest in researching arthropods and soil animals. The purpose of this laboratory assignment is to foster the exchange of current research projects between TMU and UOS students, providing a platform for the presentation and discussion of ongoing research endeavors

<方法/企画としての特徴>
As everything was planned beforehand, we, along with a student from UOS, proceeded with our scheduled activities by visiting the field behind TMU to install pitfall traps and explain the field trip collection activities for the first day. I explained how the pitfall traps work and the target groups that this trap can yield; pitfall traps can harvest a diversity of soil animals and other arthropods. Additionally, we demonstrated how to collect soil animals using a Winkler Sifter and preserve specimens. We worked in the field for 3 hours. Afterward, we returned to the lab and went to the restaurant for lunch. In the afternoon session, we presented our current research from the master's course to each other and engaged in discussions about interesting points in the seminar room of the Systematic Zoology Laboratory, located on the second floor of the Makino building.

On the next day, we returned to the forest to check the traps in the morning. After that, we came back to the laboratory to learn the basics of sorting and identifying arthropods and soil animals under a stereo microscope. We also reviewed our work since the first day of setting up the traps and concluded our research exchange by giving PowerPoint presentations and discussing key points. In the afternoon, we took a UOS student to visit the Makino herbarium to see interesting plant specimens. As for the following day, all of us participated in the TMU-UOS Bioconference program held in the atrium of building 8 at TMU. Throughout the program, participants engaged in fieldwork, laboratory sessions, and research presentations. Key activities included installing traps, demonstrating collection methods, presenting research findings. This exchange fostered valuable academic exchange and collaboration between TMU and UOS students, promoting knowledge sharing and interdisciplinary learning opportunities

<感想/課題など(企画力/評価力/自主性等の向上を含む)>
The exchange program demonstrated effective planning, as evidenced by the structured itinerary and well-organized activities. Preplanned fieldwork, laboratory sessions, and research presentations contributed to a smooth and efficient execution of the program. Additionally, activities such as trap installation and research presentations encouraged autonomy and self-directed learning. Collaboration between TMU and UOS students was a key aspect of the program.I learned a lot from this program and had fruitful collaboration with UOS students. So far, this has been a good opportunity to promote and collaborate on research activities between two universities in different countries.
